The Google Experiment Part 2

So I downloaded a version of Chrome OS to set up on a USB drive.

I wanted to see what the hubbub was all about. Also, as mentioned in yesterday's post, I wanted to see if Chrome OS could act as a legitimate replacement for mainstream OS's such as Windows or OS X.

Unfortunately for Google, and for me, the experiment ended prematurely and left me with a bitter after taste.

For you see, the last available version of Chrome OS that you can download is outdated by about a year. The end result is that you cannot use any apps. You can only go online and even that leaves to be desired as some sites will not fully display.

So where does that leave me at? I will continue the experiment as intended but sans Chrome OS. This means that I am using Google Docs to write this and I will dedicate the 3rd part of the experiment to it as well as Google Sheets and Slides. As far as the OS portion goes, I will look into getting my hands on a Chromebook or Chrome box in order to do a fair review. But this will be at a much later time.

Meanwhile, here are some pictures of what Chrome OS looks like and the installation process;
